The Window of your Soul

An Emoji Devotional for Sunday 7th of December 2025

Topic: The Window of your Soul

Highlight:

The words that people speak come from their thoughts. It is what comes out of their mouths that makes them unclean. Matthew 15:18

Your eyes are like lamps and your body is like a room. Make sure that your eyes are like a clean lamp, then your whole body will have light. If your eyes are not good, then your whole body will be in the dark. If the light in you has become dark, you will be living in a very dark place.’ Matthew 6:22-23

Let’s be real for a second. We spend so much time worrying about how we look on the outside—fixing our hair, choosing the right clothes, putting on a smile. But the Bible tells us the real story isn't on the surface. It’s in the eyes.

You know that saying, "The eyes are the window to the soul"? Jesus took that seriously. In Matthew 6, He tells us the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is good—clear, focused on God—your whole life lights up. But if your eye is bad? If it’s jealous, greedy, or full of filth? The darkness inside is terrifying.

I love this thought: The birds aren't watching you from the window; they are looking through your eyes.

Think about that. Your eyes reveal the architecture, the design, and the terrain of your spirit. When someone is messy inside—full of "rag waters," bitterness, and unhealed sores—you can see it in their gaze. You can't hide a spirit that is unkempt and lifeless.

We have to ask ourselves the hard questions today:

• Do thoughts hunt your spirit?

• Are you constantly distracted by the flashiness of the world?

• Are you stuck in the guilt of yesterday?

1 John 2:16 warns us about the stuff that clutters our view: the lust for things we see, the pride of life, the hunger to impress people. That stuff is toxic.

And here is the danger zone. Jesus warned us in Matthew 12 about the man who gets cleaned up but stays empty. He kicks out a bad spirit, sweeps the house clean, but leaves it vacant. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. An empty house just invites the old demons back, plus seven worse ones. You can't just "stop sinning" or "clean up your act." You have to fill the house.

If a spirit looks through the window of your soul today, what does it see? Does it see a tidy but empty room? Or does it see Jesus Christ sitting on the throne?

Don't leave your soul open to the "filthy spaces" of life. You need to occupy the house. You need to confess, like the jailer in Acts 16, and believe in the Lord Jesus—you and your whole household.

God has spoken. His truth is found in Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Fill your eyes with Him, and the darkness won't stand a chance.

Prayer: Hi God, hallowed be Your name. I’ve always known You have plans for me, and those plans are wrapped up in Jesus. Please, God, keep me in the safe hands of Your Holy Word. Guard the window of my soul with Your mercy. Close my eyes to the filth of this world and open them wide to Jesus. Christ in me, the hope of glory. Amen. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
